I find the "texture" of the image very interesting here.
When I first saw your caption, I read it as, "It feels like a hundred EYES."
minelmio: Thank you Karen... I like your first reading... interesting...
i wonder what that means? TV image? postcard? im interested. ~S.
minelmio: Thank you for commenting Sara... yes, it is a TV-image...
Very powerful - but I don't know what the words mean. He could be saying 'who are you looking at?' for all I know
minelmio: Thank you Chris... well, nevermind the words... I guess they are for the Scandinavian audiences...
You have me beat too - opus incertum is a supporting arch so I guess he feels like he has been supporting something or someone for 100 years. Probably miles of the mark ;o)
minelmio: Maybe... It is you who decide how to interpret a photo... he was btw born one hundred years ago... thank you for commenting...
Makes me think of George Orwell's novel 1984 !! Big Brother is watching us !!
minelmio: Interesting thought... not my intention but that is irrelevant... thank you for commenting Florence...
Interesting
minelmio: thanks...
Håller med om att Orwell kommer i tankarna när jag ser denna.
Du har en del spänning i dina bilder som jag gillar.
minelmio: Tack för kommentaren Magnus...
Orwell var inte min avsikt... jag ser nog inte blicken som övervakande...
Now it's me who wants you to translate... Could you, please?...
minelmio: It has been done...
Letter from C. G. Jung to Sigmund Freud, September 25, 1907
C. G. Jung Burghölzli-Zürich, 25 September 1907 Dear Professor Freud, I'm afraid my answer is again a little late; most of the time I have been in bed with acute gastro-enteritis. I'm still pretty run down. I should be most grateful if you could let me have the picture your sons took of you. May I also ask you to let me know where I can get the medallion? I should like to buy one. Here we have now founded a Freudian Society of Physicians1 which will hold its first meeting next Friday. We are counting on about 12 people. The subject for discussion is naturally case material. As you know, the plan to start a journal is much to my liking, but I'd rather not rush ahead as I have first to catch up with my other obligations. Only when everything is settled could I turn to such an undertaking. Also, just now I am involved in the question of an international institute for research into the causes of mental illness. The solution of this problem has still to come [This is a summary]
minelmio: Quite a confusing comment Louis...
On the date of your post, 100 years ago (it feels like a hundred years) Jung wrote a letter (Vad jag har är skrivet)to Freud. Amongst others he anounced his involvement with research into the causes of mental illness. This was where he started his own 'school' - the crossing of the bridge (opus incertum) has started.
All of that together is a possible interpretation of your picture. The jungian eye observing behaviour. The part I have inserted in the comment are the first few paragraphs of the actual letter. Sorry for the confusion, I thought you would catch the drift.
minelmio: Oh, don't be sorry, I should have been more awake when reading your comment...
So I thank you, because I find it clever and creative with all the allusions... you really took your time... |
